Satya Nadella- A Man all Set to Bring Cloud Computing to India

Kudos! Satya Nadella for his appointment as Microsoft's third CEO after Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer.

He has joined the league of other Indian origin CEOs that made our country proud in the past. To name a few are PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi and Mr Ajaypal Singh Banga, the chief executive at MasterCard.

Satya Nadella was born in Hyderabad and attained his educational qualification from Manipal University. He possesses two decades of experience focused on corporate IT infrastructure and the related Microsoft software. Other Chief Information Officers in India are also being realistic about Satya in prioritizing the cloud computing needs of enterprises in India.

Although, India is not a large market for Microsoft. However, the Redmond, Washington based company has the largest centre of Microsoft IT engineering divisions in the country, employing over 5,800 of workforce.

In words of Mr Anil Jaggia, CIO at HDFC Bank,” So far, Microsoft's cloud services are hosted overseas. If they host this India, it will be great news for Indian companies. Whether Nadella's coming will change things, it's too early to comment on that”.

Many large clients of Microsoft are elated at the thought of an Indian being appointed as the new leader of the iconic company whose software products are widely implemented and appreciated in their organizations.

As per Francis Rajan, the information technology head at Bangalore International Airport, "I reckon Nadella would bring in greater focus into Microsoft's road-map on mobility and cloud computing. He could also play a role in Microsoft's journey in terms of restructuring and the Azure (cloud) platform."

With Satya Nadella moving into the role of CEO for an IT giant like Microsoft, many of the Indian conglomerates are hoping that probably India will witness a remarkable development in the field of Cloud Computing.

"While I expect him to focus on Microsoft customers worldwide being the CEO, I am sure he will have a greater focus on India which is one of two largest consumer-driven economies in the world. With Microsoft being well entrenched in India due to its long history, I expect Satya to leverage the same and build on helping the Indian enterprise customers realize their potential.” says Jayantha Prabhu, the chief technology officer at Essar group, who is quite optimistic about the IT related developments & advancements that will happen in the history of Indian IT industry."
