Misconceptions related to Private Cloud Model

Virtualized environment and private cloud model steps in for integrating the organization’s infrastructure and streamline the business operations. The benefits of the cloud are clear and will impact your business in certain positive ways. With the power of a private cloud server, one can increase the resilience and load balancing capacity of websites.

Although, it is becoming one of the most common and popular technologies, people still have several misconceptions related to the private cloud computing and its various facts. In order to take a brief look about the misconception, you can read further:

Private Cloud Model

Private cloud is not virtualization:

Both Server and infrastructure virtualization are important factors for private cloud computing. However, virtualization and its management cannot be considered a part of private cloud computing. Private cloud computing is a model that is used by only one organization with dedicated resources and servers.

Cost reduction is not a major factor:

An enterprise can certainly trim down its operational costs with a private cloud by eliminating common and repeated tasks for standard offerings. A private cloud can modify and re-allocate given resources more efficiently to cater to specific requirements of an enterprise, possibly by reducing capital expenses for hardware. However, private clouds entail investment in automation software. As such, only cost reduction is not the benefit of private cloud computing to count on.

Private cloud may not be on-premise:

Private cloud computing is only defined by privacy. Location, ownership or management responsibility may not be a part of it. While the majority of private clouds will be on-premises (based on the evolution of existing virtualization investments), there might be a possibility that private clouds will either be outsourced or stay off-premises.

Private cloud is not only IaaS:

Server virtualization is counted as one of the major trends of IT Industry. Thus, it is a major enabler for private cloud computing. However, private cloud is not only restricted to IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service).

Rapid penetration and pressure to deliver faster and cheaper hosting services are the two major factors that are driving growth of private cloud computing. IT organizations need to be more careful to avoid such hype and disruptive misconceptions related to private cloud model.
